VDP PFALZ - the Prädikatsweingüter in the wine region Palatinate
The Pfeffingen winery in Bad Dürkheim has been a member of the VDP - the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates - since 1986. Highest quality and uniqueness - that is what we stand for as a member of the VDP PFALZ. The members are selected according to strict criteria and together form the top of the German wine estates. Outstanding wines can only be produced from the best vineyards, the vineyards classified as VDP.GROSSE LAGEN are the basis of our best wines - the VDP.GROSSEN GEWÄCHSE.
VDP.PFALZ
The Palatinate is one of the largest VDP regions and stretches along the German Wine Route to the French border in the south. Our winery is located in the northern part of the VDP PFALZ region. Situated on the edge of the Haard, our vineyards are protected by the Palatinate Forest to the west and influenced by the warm climate of the Rhine plain to the east. The diversity of the soils is already evident in the village of Ungstein near Bad Dürkheim, where our vineyards are located.

All the grapes come from our own vineyards and reflect the care we put into every bottle. These fruity and accessible wines bear typical characteristics of our region.
VDP.ORTSWEIN
Our Ortsweine come from the best sites within the village of Ungstein and reflect its unique terroir with its soils and climate. They embody the character and uniqueness of their origin and offer an authentic taste experience of our region.
VDP.ERSTE LAGE
Wines from carefully demarcated vineyards with a unique, distinctive character. The special conditions of the vineyards and the reduced yield level ensure grapes of the highest quality. Our VDP.ERSTEN LAGEN - Ungsteiner NUSSRIEGEL & Wachenheimer SCHLOSSBERG - embody the specific characteristics of their origin and reflect the incomparable terroir.
VDP.GROSSE LAGE
These wines come from our best sites with optimal soil conditions and a long winemaking tradition. The VDP here in the Palatinate states that only first-class grape varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir may become VDP.GROSSE GEWÄCHSE. In order to guarantee high quality, the vines must be of a certain age. With significantly reduced yields, a great deal of manual work in the vineyards and, of course, selective hand-picking, we guarantee that every bottle reflects the unique terroir and origin of our top vineyards - Ungsteiner HERRENBERG & Ungsteiner WEILBERG.
