Ungstein Gewürztraminer Spätlese

The location:

This Gewürztraminer comes from one of the excellent locations in the Palatinate, the Ungstein nut bar. Located in the immediate vicinity of the German Wine Route, its soil consists of fertile, alluvial sands. These were washed up by a small stream - the Isenach - over many centuries. An ideal soil for Gewürztraminer.

The expansion:

Only the best grapes are selected by hand for this special Gewürztraminer. A late harvest allows for a maximum of aroma and complexity.

In order to enable the aromatic substances to be completely released from the skin of the berries, the grapes are gently ground and then left to macerate for several hours. The juice is then fermented in modern stainless steel tanks at temperatures of 18 °Celsius. The fermentation was then interrupted when the residual sweetness was optimal by filtering the wine from the yeast.

The wine:

The Gewürztraminer Spätlese shows a wide variety of aromas in the fragrance, such as roses and honeydew melon. It has an elegant body with a wonderfully long finish on the palate. The wine has great potential and should be drunk at 9-11 °Celsius.
